Willow Glen, or the Glen as some refer to it, began to develop in the 1860’s as a unicorporated community of San Jose. Once the City of San Jose ordered the Southern Pacific Railroad to re-route its rail line through the downtown, the town attempted to forestall this by incorporating as a city in 1927. The railroad was re-routed to the North where it still is functional today, principally by Caltrain.
Today, the neighborhoods of Willow Glen are almost consist of custom or semi-custom homes in many architectural styles, including Victorian, Neoclassical, Craftsman Spanish and more.
Local annuals events in the Downtown include:
Dancin on the Avenue, Founders Day( September)
Local transportation include VTA light rail, Caltrains
Trails and Biketrails from the nearby Guadulupe River trail, Los Gatos Creek Trail
