The Almaden Valley is located southeast of Los Gatos and west of the Santa Theresa Hills and the Santa Cruz Mountains, with Mt. Umunhum towering over it and the rest of the Silicon Valley.
This area of San Jose attracts people who like the proximity to nature with the many local paths and trails and county parks surrounding it. Families are draws to the many schools both public and private and the quaint neighborhoods to choose from. Other local amenities are the community Center and Library, multiple golf and country clubs and local grocery stores and weekly farmers markets. In most neighborhood malls you will find local favorite restaurants to try.
One of the key attractions to Almaden is the abundance of recreational activities such as the Almaden Lake Park, Almaden Reservoir, Quicksilver County Park and Calero Dam.
Annually there are some fantastic community events as well including the Art and Wine Festival, The Run Turkey Run, Music in the Park and 4th of July Fireworks at the Almaden Lake Park.
Neighborhoods are festive for many holidays including Halloween, Christmas and the 4th of July. Many neighborhoods have community pools as well and host their own neighborhood safety watches. There are a few dedicated dog parks, namely Jeffery Fontana Park.
